Republicans pass torture law...

Let's start with some quotes from the article.

""Is it perfect? No," said Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (news, bio, voting record), R-Fla. "Do we have an obligation to pass it? Yes.""

Is it perfect? No, should you pass it? NO. If you pass imperfect legislation, it only leads to imperfect implementing of that legislation.

"The measure also provides extensive definitions of war crimes such as torture, rape and biological experiments — but gives Bush broad authority to decide which other techniques U.S. interrogators can legally use."

Bush has clearly shown he can not be trusted, especially with a decision to decide what is torture and what is not.

Republicans have been using this ploy to "paint democrats soft on terror." And some Christian rejects such as Hastert have said "...Democrats opposing the measure "voted today in favor of MORE rights for terrorists.""

Actually, Democrats just believe in a little something called Human Rights. The Bush administration has been CAUGHT not only torturing innocent people, but torturing them for years without them ever being able to call for an attorney or even let anyone know where they were. The most recent case in Canada is simply that, only the most recent case.

For Republicans to state that Democrats are soft on terror is just insulting and immoral to say the least. It shows they have no substance in their argument and can only resort to attacks on the other guy (as we all know is their M.O.) What's worse is they think the American people are stupid enough to believe it. Yes, some believe it and I can guarantee a couple will post in response to this but if you look at every piece of legislation passed by the Republican Congress and voted against by Democrats, it will, at its core, have a Human Rights issue.

The Republicans in Congress just spit in the face of the Geneva Convention and our soldiers will pay for it if not now, in the future war Bush drags us in to. What's next, Iran or Pakistan?

He can barely be trusted to tie his own shoes and yet they are letting him decide what is and what isn't torture. He is going to simply decide that anything is not torture and can be used and as our country slowly descends into the pits of hell, we will be led by George W. Bush, the worst president this country has ever and hopefully will ever see.

Bush Administration Wants Soldiers To Be Able To Rape...

The article attached (Click above somewhere), though posted on a biased blog (Biased towards Democrats...Yes, I can admit when that happens unlike some political affiliations...) has comments by legal scholars who are not biased. It clearly states that the law is meant to make immune from prosecution soldiers who have previously done unethical tortures as well as make immune soldiers who will do unethical torture. Let me rephrase this once again. The Republican Congress has made a law making it legal for soldiers interrogating prisoners to do extremely unethical immoral atrocious things, in fact, everything EXCEPT rape, to the prisoners and immune them from prosecution. This sounds an awful lot like what the soldiers of Saddam Hussein were allowed to do legally.

The Republicans had a mock fight with the White House this last week in an attempt to make themselves seem further from Bush and his low poll numbers even though in essence, it is the same law he proposed. Whats even more infuriating is that the Republicans seem to forget that there are any other law makers in Congress. They have special meetings between Republicans and the White House to discuss the laws and mediate a center between supposed disagreements without even a care to what half of the country and their representatives think.

Republicans seem to feel that their number one priority is NOT the welfare of the country, but the welfare of their money and their job in office. Their number one election rule is: "If you can't say something nice about yourself, attack the opponent!" They are now already attacking Minority Leader, hopefully soon to be Majority Leader, Nancy Pelosi on empty attacks. They have even degraded to the simple yet appealing to Republican attack, "Do you really want a woman third in line for the Presidency?" This is pathetic. Below is the list of the top 20 most corrupt officials in Congress. Of the top 20, three are Democrats and 17 are Republicans. What is most surprising is that for some reason, half the country still thinks that Republicans are better to have in office! The list is courtesy of http://www.beyonddelay.org. This is generally a non-partisan site whose sole goal is to oust corrupt officials which SHOULD be the goal of ALL Americans.

I beg you, Americans, oust the corrupt officials and quit voting strictly along party lines and maybe, for once, do the honorable thing and vote for who will best do the job!

Next on my subject list is this game the Republicans are playing with the American people's heart. Bush used his 9/11 memorium speech to push a connection between 9/11 and Iraw even though there was none as admitted with proof to back it up. He promised the people of America he would not politicize the speech and the first thing he did was politicize the speech. It was so sad to see this so-called Born-Again Christian use such a sad event to push his Non-Christian agenda. Then the Republicans faked this faux fight with the president THIS week to take the media's attention off of what happened and it worked.

Finally, the game Republicans play in regards to the facts are getting out of hand. They have this bill regarding allowing torture. Torture is clearly an ANTI-Christian belief. Democrats will NEVER stand for torture, so when they vote against this bill, Republicans will say, "Look, Democrats are "Soft on Terror", another one of their talking points, and some people will actually believe them. It's a bunch of BS and they all know it. Intellegent people know it too but there are others who believe it. Democrats are probably stronger on Terror then Republicans, the only difference is that Republicans will sell our safety to the highest bidder (Our ports being an example) while Democrats will keep us alot safer here at home.

Remember, in November, vote the truth, freedom, and the American Way. Vote Democrat.
